In this era, it seems that everything boils down to the UX. I’ve been looking into interaction design/ interactivity for a long time because it usually associates with state-of-art technology, intrigue, and design. On top of that, recently, I found that Netflix launched its new release of interactive TV experience for some shows and movies on their platform last December. The most exciting part for me is that they enable the audience to determine the characters and storyline. People now can tune in branching decision-based narrativity on their sofa in the warm and comfortable living room.

Each choice people make in the show or film will guide them to distinguishing endings or experience. Therefore, many of them might play the artworks not only once to discover various possibilities. On a short term scale, this new release invariably increases the click-through rate (CTR); on a long term scale, it can develop a marketing segmentation to beat their counterparts. Such a transformation might be influenced by the interactive game or platform, such as eko. Through such a change, we can observe that Netflix sees eye-to-eye with their users and desires helping them draw a better mental image, which also blurs the line between game-like experience and TV shows.

Taking a peek at the audience’s perspective, as a user, this formulation comprises the notion of psychology, especially in people’s intuitive decisions. A person who used to think positively is more likely to pick a more pessimistic outcome, and vice versa. Additionally, an introvert might select a more optimistic/favourable outcome. Thus, if there are some extensions or arrangements with psychological models, it can be an excellent approach to assist people to help people get in touch with their inner storyteller with this type of production.
