Taiwanese Honour Drink — Bubble tea

This journal attempts to introduce the milk bubble tea from Taiwan.

The territory in Taiwan is small, but there are plenty of distinguishing topography, including flat grounds, plateaus, and steep mountains. Such a unique terrain makes tea trees easily planted in differentiating altitudes, which generates various flavours.

Moreover, the fundamental factors of Taiwanese tea culture’s fundamental factors can be traced to the ancient period when tea started to trade as merchandise. In that phase, drinking tea became a noble culture in Taiwan, and only the aristocracy or the rich were able to access it.

In recent years, this trend has gradually transformed into a general culture because of the upgrowth of economy and farming technology. After years of development and innovation, the Taiwanese created various mixtures and tastes of tea and soft drinks with different materials and compositions, comprising sweet potatoes, fruits, matcha, and soy milk etc. Additionally, this tendency has expanded verseas and become an icon of fashion or fancy, especially in Japan.

However, the prosper of bubble tea culture raised plenty of issues, such as plastic pollution and diabetes. Overcoming these health and environmental concerns plays a crucial role in its sustainable development.
