The rebuild game on the mobile server — Rise of Empire.
Do you remember the first time when you played a video game or computer game? While I memorize that experience, the excitement and passion kick in. I got my first computer game from my dad, who bought “The Pink Panther: Passport to Peril” when I was ten.
It impressed me with its exotic environments and comparative and strong colour scheme. Turning in this virtual world helped me get a taste for exotic environments and intense colour schemes. After I grew up, I started playing other computer games, online games, and console games with my brother or friends in junior high school. At that time, I was obsessed with those interesting and addicting games, including the Rice of Empire and Maple Story.
Recently, Rise of Empire released the iOS version on Apple’s Store. I had waited for this release for a long time. Thus, I downloaded and played it to seek the same feeling as I was young. However, within only fifteen minutes, I had already lost my curiosity in the tutorial session. Hence, I dumped this game, which I originally anticipated, not to find out its new features. I was disappointed by this situation with the game company. Therefore, I started to think about what causes the gap between the original game and its revamped or iterated version. The factors might be:
- Different attitudes. When I was a child, I had much more time to enjoy the whole plot in games. Contrastingly, after a certain age, I would be frequently distracted by homework, work, or other stuff in daily routines when playing. I suppose that’s the reason why people often sighed that “Childhood never returns”.
- Peer influences. I could play with my siblings and classmates in my childhood, yet, now, I can only play by myself or with strangers, which is fun.
- Some games are more suitable on a specific device or server.
- Appropriateness. The renovated game mimicked other trending mobile apps but did not consider their own value or the differences thoroughly.
- I am too old to suit Gen-Z’s preference.
- We have already been spoiled by so many differentiating fantastic games that we would feel bored with the older ones nowadays.
Its mobile version has already ruined my expectation for the Rise of Empire through the terrible experience. Nonetheless, the good thing is: those sweet gaming memories will still be in my mind forever.
